Casa Connor / Pasitos de Luz New Facility Construction

Eagle’s Wings Foundation has supported construction for the new facility in different construction phases since it began in November 2011. Great progress has been made in building this children’s facility through hard work and dedication with the partnership of these two organizations and countless volunteers and multiple donors for this project.

Pasitos de Luz, a non-profit organization that serves the special needs of disabled children and their low income families who live in and around the communities of Puerto Vallarta. Pasitos de Luz supports more than 140 children in total but can only support a small number on any given day due to the size of their current building.

CASA Connor is in partnership with Pasitos de Luz to assist in building a larger facility to accommodate their high demand.

Construction for the new Casa Connor facility for Pasitos de Luz began in November 2011.  This 15,000 square foot facility, built to look like a castle, will house multiple therapy and education centres, a therapy pool, respite rooms and a large kitchen to provide meals. It will be able to accommodate over 200 children daily.

It is Yolanda Sanchez’s (Founder and Director of Pasitos de Luz) dream to create this extensive facility to provide loving care the children at Pasitos need to enrich their lives.

CASA Connor, the Caring Abroad Society of Alberta, is a living legacy created by family and friends of Connor Vanderveen. Connor passed away in October 2011 from Hunters Syndrome—a genetic degenerative disease with a terminal diagnosis. In Canada, the medical care for kids with disabilities is exceptional; there are resources available for educational and rehabilitation opportunities as well as family respite. But this is not the case everywhere.

With a focus on serving and enriching the lives of children with physical and mental disabilities in the Puerto Vallarta area, CASA Connor—a not-for-profit, registered society—is committed to providing services and facilities to allow these kids to receive all the therapy they require. In partnership with Pasitos de Luz, a day home supporting more than 120 children, CASA Connor is assisting in building a larger facility to accommodate the demand, as well as overnight respite services and accommodation for volunteers.
